Even though the MV programme has closed, I still want to volunteer – where should I go?

I didn’t register all my hours with my MV provider before the end of the MV Programme in March 08 – does this mean I can’t count those hours I spent volunteering before March 08?
If your MV provider is an organisation which is still working with young volunteers, they may be able to award you a certificate retrospectively for the hours you have registered before April 08.
Under v’s new national youth volunteering programme, called vinvolved, every volunteer will be able to keep a record of all the hours they have volunteered using the new volunteer log book. This will enable you to record the number of hours you have volunteered, the skills ou have gained, and the impact our volunteering has had within the local community. v is also offering the v50 hour Award for all young people undertaking 50 hours or more of volunteering. If you are unable to contact your MV Provider, please email vinvolvedteams@wearev.com

How do I get my organisation's volunteering opportunities displayed on vinspired.com?
vinspired.com finds its opportunities on the National Volunteering Database (NVD) maintained by YouthNet. To get your opportunities onto vinspired, you need to get them onto the NVD.
You can post your opportunities onto the NVD through your local volunteer centre, or by setting up an Online Poster account or purchasing v-base software. Find out more here: www.do-it.org/needvolunteers.
The volunteering opportunities shown on vinspired.com are powered by do-it.org [Links will open in a new window].
v does not have any editorial control over the contents of the database.
If you represent an organisation which is supported by v, we can highlight your volunteering projects by featuring them in our search results. If you would like more information about this please email us.

VSO offers global volunteering programmes for young people and Volunteering England lists contact details for dozens of organisations offering placements abroad. [links will open in a new window]

I would like to volunteer abroad for about a year. I am having trouble finding an organization to go through. I also would like to find one where you don’t have to pay to volunteer. What should I do?
When searching for opportunities on WWV, you're asked how much you have to spend, and one of the options is £0!
VSO's Global Xchange programme doesn't charge you for the experience - instead, you're asked to fundraise £600 towards the trip, and they'll give you help and support in doing this.
Have you considered volunteering in Europe? We have access to a database and information about lots of hosting organisations across Europe. European Voluntary Service (EVS) might be worth considering as you can volunteer in Europe for a year and don't have to pay.
